WE SEE LIMITATIONS AND BARRIERS WHERE REALLY THERE ARE ONLY OPPORTUNITIES
For me, art is a way of escaping from reality. Decompressing my mind and allowing myself time away from my thoughts in order to better understand them. Art evokes emotion. It is powerful.
A FEW WORDS
ABOUT ME AND MY WORK
BIO
Tom Roy (Toni Ramírez) is an artist and entrepreneur born in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona) in 1976 who changed the commercial direction of a multinational for art following a cancer, and uses that vital experience as an example of inspiration and improvement in his works.
He chairs the ARA artists reus association where he also curates the exhibition itinerary regularly and is an active member of ARTSUD. He also collaborates artistically with charitable initiatives for the Hospital Clínic and the Hospital de la Vall d'Hebrón (Barcelona). And also for audivisual productions such as the TV program "Joc de Cartes" of TV3.
His works are present in the collections of the Port of Tarragona and Melià Hotels, to name a few. His work can be purchased through his website, tomroy.art, and also in saatchiart.com and artsy.net
STATEMENT
Tom Roy’s work denotes empowerment, strength and inner power, with a very characteristic figurative style, which represents his characters with large hands and feet, robust limbs, twisted postures, impossible gestures, penetrating looks, a use of vibrant colors and a determiner and rough, almost impulsive stroke. He uses atypical angles and perspectives to give a monumental touch to his characters and applies textures and experimental techniques to make his canvases more contemporary.
The goal of Tom Roy’s work is to motivate and give confidence to people to overcome any obstacle and limitation through his art and personal history as an example. His desire is to convey that EVERYTHING can be overcome if there is a non-combustible will. It applies as a mantra, a slogan consistent with this message when declaring that we see limitations and barriers where there are only opportunities.
Influenced by Fernando Botero, Modigliani, Francis Bacon, Yue Minjun, and Gustav Vigeland, among others, he has found his own language with which to empower, motivate and give confidence to the viewer to move towards overcoming any obstacle or limitation through his art and personal history.
